About Me:
Griffin Wilson is a first-year band director in Mississippi. He completed his Master’s degree in Instrumental Wind Conducting at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2025, under the guidance of Dr. Catherine Rand. Prior to that, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the same university in 2023, under the mentorship of Dr. Melody Causby.
In 2024, Griffin attended and conducted at the Michigan State Conducting Symposium, gaining valuable insights into the art of conducting. He has also taught lessons to students at various levels, from beginners to advanced collegiate musicians, and has been invited to teach at numerous clinics and band camps. His expertise encompasses large ensemble rehearsals, recruitment, and brass pedagogy.
Griffin’s passion for music extends beyond teaching and conducting. He has participated in masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Yu Tamaki Hoso, Jim Markey, Abbie Conant, and Joseph Alessi, among others. Additionally, he maintains a busy schedule of gigs on trombone and guitar throughout the year.
Outside of music, Griffin enjoys spending time practicing on the golf course.
